| The new Homestead Hospital opened on May 6, 2007 at Campbell Drive (SW 312 Street and SW 147 Avenue. It replaced the old Homestead Hospital that opened in 1940 off Krome Avenue. The new $135 million facility is part of Baptist Health South Florida and has the latest technology and equipment. Natural light, soothing colors, plenty of open spaces and all private rooms help to create a warm and healing environment. The hospital includes medical-surgical units, an intensive care unit, surgical services, as well as outpatient diagnostic testing. The 24-hour Emergency Center has 44 private treatment rooms, including a trauma room and a Children's Emergency Room. The Birthing Suites welcomes more than 1,200 babies a year. A Medical Arts Building is located inside the main hospital and houses physicians' offices. The Physical Therapy Building, located on the hospital campus, contains the Physical and Speech Therapy Center and the Sleep Diagnostic Center. |
