Mayor's Youth Council

What is the Mayor's Youth Council?
The MYC is an advisory council to the Mayor and City Council of Homestead consisting of 30 youth in grades 9-12. The Mayor's Youth Council provides a constructive means for youth to have a voice in the decision making processes affecting youth in local government and will provide opportunities for self-growth and leadership development. Issues within the advisory jurisdiction of the MYC include:

  • To make recommendations on matters affecting youth in the community.
  • To increase youth participation and involvement in local government.
  • To seek and recommend ways to improve communication with students in area schools.
  • To organize and perform service projects or functions that benefit the Homestead community.
  • To recommend the creation of recognition programs for youth.

How Can I Apply?
Click here to download and print the Mayor's Youth Council Application or call City Hall at 305-224-4447 to have an application mailed to you. Applications can also be picked up in person by visiting City Hall - Office of the Mayor and Council, 790 N. Homestead Blvd. MYC applications will be reviewed by a community panel and formal appointments made by the Mayor and City Council.

When is the next Mayor's Youth Council Meeting scheduled?
The MYC meets the 1st Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 790 N. Homestead Blvd.
